COUNSELORS-IN-TRAINING (CIT) This program is divided into two sessions: Session I will include Weeks 1-4. Session II will include Weeks 4-8. Designed for teens ages 14 & 15, this program will help to develop skills for those teens who may eventually be interested in working at camp as a counselor or lifeguard. CIT’s will: • Spend time with Lead Counselors and their groups getting hands-on experience supervising and managing children. • Work with other CIT’s as a group on various activities that tie into our weekly themes. • Work directly with the Camp & Assistant Camp Director’s learning what it takes to run a camp. This program will provide an opportunity for your teen to develop into a responsible and experienced individual. At the end of each session, the CIT’s will be evaluated by the Camp Director to address strengths and weaknesses. Upon completion of the program, CIT’s who have shown to have a good work ethic, are responsible and caring, may be offered the opportunity for employment at the YMCA of Salem County Summer Day Camp. Hours spent at camp will be considered volunteer hours for high school requirements and for college applications. CIT’s who successfully complete the program will be eligible for a letter of reference from the Camp Director. |
