You might be eligible for a FREE membership. The Silver Sneakers Fitness Program is offered in partnership with select health plans at no additional cost to eligible participants. Contact your insurance company to see if they participate in the Silver Sneakers Program. If eligible, your membership will include Silver Sneakers Classes, other classes offered at the YMCA, guidance from qualified fitness instructors and the Senior Advisor, social activities and the use of the fitness center and pool. Contact the Member-Services Desk or Donna Huntington, Active Older Adult Coordinator if your insurance company participates in this program.
A Walk in the Park
This class meets at Riverview Park in Pennsville. With the weather getting warmer, join us for a walk! Pace and distance is up to you. Work at your level. The goal is to keep moving!
Cardio & Sculpt
This class is a total body workout made up of half cardio and half strength training using an assortment of equipment.
Core Strength and Stretch
This class is geared toward the senior population, as well as those with disabilities who could handle the class. This class focuses on postural exercises, strengthening, stretching and flexibility for the overall body apparatus including cardio to strengthen the heart.
Corrective Exercise Class
This class addresses injury prevention including proper posture, self massage, stretching, and strengthening exercises. This class also helps alleviate pain for those who suffer from back, knee, hip, neck pain, etc. and applies functional exercises applicable to life.
Corrective Exercise Clinic
Jim Menz, Wellness Coordinator at Salem Community College, Licensed Massage Therapist, and Corrective Exercise Specialist will meet with you one-on-one for an assessment and customized exercise plan to help alleviate pain in the back, neck, legs, hands, etc., and control body weight. By appointment only.
Mature Dance Class
For fit seniors, this class has fun with various dance routines and dance styles.
Mature Osteo Prevention
(Free to all Participants)
This class involves lifting of light weights and gentle stretching for the purpose of preventing osteoporosis. Must pre-register for this class.
Pilates Plus
A gentle, yet effective resistance program that focuses on the whole body, particularly the core. Improves muscle control, flexibility, coordination, strength and posture. Quality-not quantity. A variety of equipment will be used to enhance and modify. Pilates is for “everybody”- from beginners to the advanced.
Potluck Luncheon
3rd Tuesday of every month at 12:30 PM
All seniors are welcomed to this friendly monthly social event followed by a special speaker. Bring your favorite dish to share and enjoy with others while listening to musical entertainment provided by Peter McCarthy. While you’re there, ask about being a part of the Golden Club. Get a free health screening provided by the Salem County Health Initiative.
SilverSneakers® - Cardio Circuit
Combine fun and fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout. Upper body strength work using hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball is alternated with non-impact aerobic choreography. A chair is offered for support, head to toe stretching, and complete relaxation in a comfortable position.
SilverSneakers® - Muscular Strength & Range of Movement
Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are offered for resistance, and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.
SilverSneakers® YogaStretch
Yoga Stretch will move your whole body through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses. Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of postures designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of movement. Restorative breathing exercises and a final relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity.
Super Circuit Class
Work all of your muscles and cardiovascular system all in the same 30 minute workout.
