The YMCA of Salem County is over 29,000 Square Feet and offers swimming, free weight room, cardio room, strength equipment, basketball court, rooms available for meetings and an auditorium available for larger events. Many fitness classes are provided, some of which are included in the membership while others require a small fee. Here is a brief sampling of current activities. |

Power Vinyassa Yoga This invigorating and challenging practice engages your mind, body and spirit using rhythmic breathing to come into and out of poses practiced in a continuous flowing sequence. Over time you will build strength, develop flexibility and reduce stress while experiencing the physical sensations of yoga-steadiness, comfort and relaxation of effort! Monday & Wednesday 7:00-8:00 PM (8 week session)

Aerobic Power Hour This high intensity cardio workout incorporates moderate and high impact aerobic moves. We’ll warm you up, work hard, then cool down with a concentration of abs and lower body strengthening followed by a full body stretch. Fun choreography includes funky steps, directional moves and high energy routines that keep you moving. Monday 6:00-7:00 PM
Basic Step Step class with slower music and simple steps. You will not only be using the step to work your legs but also your arms and abs. Thursday 6:00-7:00 PM
Kick & Sculpt Total body workout including cardio, designed to strengthen and tone the major muscle groups. Tuesday 6:00-7:00 PM
Cardio Boxing (Non-Contact) Teaching amateurs the style of boxing. Get fit and learn how to hit. A class for ladies as well as men. Mon./Wed./Fri. 9:15-10:00 AM Tues./Thurs. 7:00-8:00 PM
Cardio Mix Mix it up a little...or a lot. This intermediate cardio class is tailored to those that show up! Low or Hi impact aerobics, step, toning and ball are all up for grabs. Monday 10:00-11:00 AM
Lite-Cardio This cardio workout combines low and moderate aerobic moves in addition to strengthening and toning major muscle groups. Wednesday 10:00-11:00 AM
Selective Sculpt Body sculpting with a twist! A total body workout designed to strengthen and tone the major muscle groups. Classes will be structured with input from class participants. Saturday 10:00-11:00 AM
Super Circuit Class Work all of your muscles and cardiovascular system all in the same 30 minute workout. Monday 9:30-10:10 AM Wednesday 9:10-9:45 AM
Turbo Step Fight the fat! Improve your energy endurance and have some fun. This step class uses rhythm and travel moves to keep you stepping to the funky beat. Warm-up, do some basic step moves and then challenge yourself with some fun choreography. Finish it all off with a cool down, abs and some lower body strength exercises. Saturday 9:00-10:00 AM
Turbo Step & Beyond Everything Turbo Step includes and more . . Wednesday 6:00-7:00 PM
Total Body Building This class utilizes light weights with high repetitions attacking the core muscles while defining the body and mind. Mon./Wed./Fri. 8:30-9:15 AM

Basic Cardio & Core This class focuses on stretching ,flexibility and strength exercises benefiting the core area of the body. A cardio workout is included to strengthen the heart. Thursday 9:45-10:45 AM
Silver Sneakers Muscular Strength & Range of Movement Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are offered for resistance, and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support. Wednesday & Friday 10:00-10:45 AM
Mature Osteo Prevention This class involves lifting of light weights and gentle stretching for the purpose of preventing osteoporosis. Must pre-register for this class. Monday 9:30-10:30 AM Wednesday 9:00-9:55 AM

Get a Free Membership at the YMCA with the SilverSneakers Fitness Program The SilverSneakers Fitness Program is offered in partnership with select health plans at no additional cost to Medicare-eligible members. If eligible, your membership includes SilverSneakers Classes, other classes offered at the YMCA, guidance from qualified fitness instructors and the Senior Advisor, social activities and the use of the fitness center and pool. The Golden Club formed a year ago by a group of seniors hosts potlucks, seminars, senior dances, and trips. Check at the YMCA for more information on Golden Club activities.
Potluck Luncheons All seniors are welcome to this friendly monthly social event followed by a special speaker. Bring your favorite dish to share and enjoy with others while listening to music entertainment provided by Peter McCarthy. Get a free health screening provided by the Salem County Health Initiative. A fun event/educational seminar usually follows the potluck.
Date & Time 3rd Tuesday of every month at 12:30 PM
Corrective Exercise Clinics Led by Jim Menz, Wellness Coordinator at Salem Community College, Licensed Massage Therapist, and Corrective Exercise Specialist, assisted by Donna Huntington, Certified Personal Trainer, these clinics are held weekly on Wednesdays, 12:30—2:00 PM. Program addresses alleviating pain in the body and controlling weight. |

Come and enjoy the pool while burning some calories and making new friends. Our Aquatic Fitness Program offers a wide range of classes to meet the needs of everyone interested.
Aqua Aerobics Mix Moderate to high intensity shallow water workout. This is a traditional aerobics class mixed with interval training. Upper body strength and conditioning is done at the end of class prior to cool down and stretch. Monday & Wednesday 6:00-7:00 PM
Deep Water Fitness Moderate to high intensity workout. This is the only true “no impact” exercise class. Participants exercise while suspended in a flotation belt. This is a great class for core strengthening and cardio-respiratory conditioning. Monday, Wednesday, & Friday 1:00—2:00 PM
Deep Water Walkers This is a moderate to advanced aquatic exercise program. We utilize winged water walkers with suspended aerobic exercises to increase heart rate and caloric burn. All equipment on site. *This is not a deep water walking class. Monday & Thursdays 5:00-5:45 PM
